North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Assistant/Associate Professor- Theatre Arts in Greensboro, North Carolina

The Theater Program at North Carolina A&T State University seeks to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor who will teach a variety of courses, including Introduction to Theatre, African American Drama I and II, Theatre History I and II, Acting I and II, Playwriting and Children’s Theatre. The successful candidate should have at least four years of teaching experience at the university level. The successful candidate will be considered for directing at least one main stage production up to every two years, teach classes, and participate in curriculum development, recruiting and advising theater majors. Service to the program, department, college and university are also expected.

Responsibilities also include conducting scholarly research and all other activities required for tenure. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, fundraising, and program assessment.

The selected candidate will be hired at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank based on the candidate’s education and experience. This is a 9-month tenure track position.

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts provides students with exceptional professional programs, which combine development in artistic disciplines and career preparation in the arts. The theater program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theater ( NAST ) and has produced Grammy award winners and nominees.

Requirements:

MA, MFA , and or PhD. with at least four years teaching experience, scholarly activity and service, preferably in a higher education setting.

Preferred:

At least four years of teaching at the university level.
