The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University has proudly maintained accreditation by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ( AACSB International) since 1979. The Accounting accreditation has been in place since 1986. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation occurred in 2021. The leadership team for the Deese College includes the Dean, Associate Dean of Research and Operations, the Assistant Dean of Student Success & Programming, the Assistant Dean/ MBA Director, the MACC Director, the Director of the Transportation Institute, five academic Chairpersons, about 14 administrative services staff and 2 technical services staff.

The University is on a journey to become a Research 1 (R1) institution. The faculty member will be responsible for continuously publishing in high-quality peer reviewed journals while developing and delivering high-quality course content in economics at the undergraduate and MBA levels both on campus and online. In addition to carrying out impactful teaching and research, faculty members are expected to actively engage in service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Faculty is expected to engage with external partners and support grant and external funding opportunities.

This is a 9-month, tenure-track position in the field of macroeconomics at the

Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Department of Economics is one of five academic departments in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University, located in Greensboro, NC. North Carolina A&T State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral high research activity university that prepares students to advance the human condition and facilitate economic growth in North Carolina and beyond by providing a preeminent and diverse educational experience through teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge.

The Department of Economics offers both campus-based and distance learning BS degrees in economics. Students pursuing the campus-based economics degree have three options: an economics degree with a concentration in business, an economics degree with a concentration in law, and a general economics degree with 27 free elective hours allowing a student to choose their own concentration outside of the discipline. The distance learning degree offers only the general economics option. The economics degree with a concentration in business is an AACSB -accredited program; the College has been accredited by AACSB International since 1979. The Department currently has 12 full-time faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees, and two part-time faculty.

Requirements:

The position requires an earned doctorate in Economics by the anticipated date of appointment and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research appropriate to the level of appointment.

Preferred:

Highly desirable candidates will have evidence of effective undergraduate teaching and an active research agenda leading to publications in high-quality journals. We also highly value candidates with demonstrated experience in effective online teaching practices and an active record of professional service engagement.
