Forward Air Credit Supervisor in Greeneville, Tennessee

Position: Credit Supervisor

Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking a Credit Supervisor that will be responsible for overseeing and managing the customer application credit approval process. This individual will work under the direction of the Manager, Credit and Accounts Receivable and will supervise all staff members to ensure that all tasks are completed timely and accurately.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Review and process credit applications for potential customers and new sub accounts.

  • Analyze credit data and payment history to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit

  • Determine what the Credit Limit should be under the guidelines agreed upon.

  • Process, Track and Monitor all accounts that have filed Bankruptcy.

  • Process, Track and Monitor all accounts that have been given final demand to ensure they are filed to outside collection.

  • Be the point of contact for all account given to outside collections

  • Complete all credit departments’ reports on time weekly.

  • Complete all information attributes in CDM including initial setup and maintenance.

  • Validation that new accounts are set up with appropriate credit limits, terms, risk level, and relationships.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers to resolve credit issues.

  • Follow company policy to deactivate or end date accounts as needed.

  • Oversee and complete initial entry and maintenance of credit and collection account attributes in CDM including determining and setting, determining, and reviewing Customer Hierarchy.

  • Present Weekly Credit Limit Report and lead collector conversation of high-risk customers. Recommend action on each account to help minimize company exposure for customers that have made the list this week.

  • Help ensure staff is meeting productivity goals

  • Provide report of company accounts Credit Limits.

  • Help hire and train new hires

  • Work with collectors to develop best practices and institute via training.

  • Work with 3rd party collection agencies for accounts that all in house efforts have been exhausted.

  • Streamline weekly collections meeting to focus on accounts that are truly at risk or require management/sales intervention

  • Establish and maintain training/procedure handbook

  • Maintain accountability documentation for employees

  • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion

  • Working knowledge of how to identify risk for the company

  • Transportation industry or credit approval experience preferred

  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of company practices, methods and resources made available
