JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 21053 WORKING TITLE: Assistant Professor - Computer Science/Software Engineering UW SYSTEM OFFICIAL TITLE: Assistant Professor POSTING DATE: July 9, 2024 START DATE: Position 1 - January 2, 2025 and Position 2 - August 25, 2025 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Resch School of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for two tenure-track positions in Computer Science or Software Engineering, one beginning in January 2025 and the second in August 2025. These positions may contribute to general Computer Science; emphases in machine learning/AI, cybersecurity, and data science; and a new BS in Software Engineering in addition to contributing to the general education mission of the university. The successful applicant will contribute to a growing Computer Science program, a new BS in Software Engineering, and partnerships with Microsoft and regional industries. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to engage students in undergraduate research projects and be involved in community outreach projects, including STEM outreach activities and summer camps. This position includes the following responsibilities: Teach a course load of 21 contact hours per academic year with a 3-credit remission in the first academic year. Primary responsibilities will be to teach courses in the undergraduate Computer Science and Software Engineering programs. Candidates may have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative online M.S. in Cybersecurity. Supervise capstone projects, independent studies, and internships. Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW-Green Bay. Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students and/or faculty. Advise and mentor students. Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank. Perform institutional and community service. Contribute to ongoing program development. ABD candidates will be considered; however, an earned doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field, from an accredited institution is a necessary condition for contract renewal. ABD candidates will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral during the terminal period, the contracted appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor will be reinstated.
