Community Health Programs Chief Financial Officer in Great Barrington, Massachusetts

SUMMARY: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) collaborates with and assists the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and members of senior leadership in executing CHP\'s mission and vision. The CFO oversees and directs the finance and billing teams and is responsible for the overall financial health and wellbeing of CHP. Finance functions include the development and oversight of accounting, financial and revenue cycle policies, including cash flow planning, finance, accounting, coding, insurance, internal controls, budget, auditing, claims processing, payroll, and tracking/reporting on financial and related operational metrics. The CFO empowers the finance team and other areas of responsibility by providing the leadership and resources they need to successfully support CHP\'s operations. The CFO provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that CHP has the proper financial controls, administrative and reporting procedures in place to ensure effective, compliant, high-performing teams. The CFO works flexible hours and travels to the health center\'s locations in order to meet CHP\'s needs. The CFO assumes responsibility for additional organizational functions as needed and in the absence of the CEO, the CFO is the next in command and assumes all fiduciary leadership responsibilities normally entrusted to the CEO. ESSENTIAL CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees and directs all financial accounting and reporting, procedures, and internal controls, including: - Monthly bank reconciliations. - General Ledger - reconciles control accounts to corresponding subsidiary ledgers. - Accounts Payable - verifies accuracy, classifications, and proper approvals. - Accounts Receivable - verifies daily deposits and proper classifications. - Prepares the financial statements in conformity with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). - Ensures that the financial statements and all accounting records are accurate for examination by independent auditors. - Analyzes, prepares, and presents financial statements to management, the Board and the broader CHP community. - Reviews departmental financial statements with management, provides assistance and presents information at meetings as requested. - Monitors departmental financial performance and internal controls. - Develops and implements financial policies and procedures and ensures compliance. - Oversees CHP\'s relationships with federal and state tax authorities and government regulators. - Oversees payroll department and all related processing, reporting, tax filings, etc. - Oversees financial performance and ensures compliance with fiscal governmental reporting requirements, including tax reports. - Oversees and directs all revenue cycle activities, including: Accurate and timely billing to third party payers. - Reviews billing/collection patterns and makes corrective recommendations, including working in collaboration with the CEO and COO in the development of policies/procedures to ensure corrections are made in a timely manner to enhance revenue. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor\'s degree in finance or accounting required. Master\'s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. - Minimum of ten (10) years\' experience, including five (5) years in a healthcare organization as well as experience in fiscal services (grants, contracts, billing and collections, bookkeeping, accounting, reporting). Experience in primary or multispecialty ambulatory care and/or federally-qualified health center strongly preferred.
