Position Summary:

Manages and supervises the Benefits Administration team and benefits administrative activities

. Manages vendor relationships as assigned. Participates as a benefits expert in project cycles, both annual and ad hoc assignments. Participates in annual open enrollment period planning and project implementation. Has primary responsibilities for preparing and coordinating related communications and employee support functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Interviews, hires, orients, trains, and evaluates the performance of, and when necessary makes authoritative recommendations regarding discipline and discharge of the benefits analyst team.

  2. Manages, supervises, directs, guides, and advises the benefits analyst team with regard to benefits issues including but not limited to enrollment maintenance, special enrollment rights, employee and management inquiries regarding non-retirement benefits.

  3. Develops, secures approval of, implements and administers team goals and objectives.

  4. Monitors benefit offerings for compliance with Corporate policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

  5. Prepares and coordinates open enrollment communications and support efforts.

  6. Functions as a liaison between the team and insurance carriers, benefit program third party administrators, and contracted support team members.

  7. Consults and advises director on proposed benefit and plan design changes with focus on the ability for the team to communicate and administer changes.

  8. Participates in annual open enrollment project as well as ad hoc project assignments.

  9. Communicates and reports benefit activities, trends, problems, etc.

  10. Keeps up to date on all benefit laws, regulations, IRS rulings, and the like, and authoritatively recommends and, upon approval, implements changes to respective programs in order to reflect new developments in same.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.

  • Five years’ experience in human resources in progressively more responsible positions, including a minimum of two years management experience and/or project management experience

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Healthcare industry experience.

  • Experience in a unionized environment.
