Responsibilities

Greet patients and performs a variety of clerical and service duties such as: answering telephones and directing calls; communicating information; scheduling outpatient procedures and tests; maintain logs, reports, and files; assisting physicians; and distributing x-ray reports and

films. Processing and maintaining images through the AGFA System. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work area. Performs other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.

  • Greet patients, answers telephones and directs calls.

  • Direct patients to proper areas.

  • Respond to requests for information about charges, records, tests and procedures, etc., and communicates information to hospital staff, patients, physicians, doctor offices, clinics, etc.

  • Schedule outpatient procedures and tests. Prepares and distributes schedules.

  • Prepare surgery schedules. Request for previous jackets from campuses. Makes any hard copies needed. Distribute films to Surgery Department.

  • Prepare and files x-ray film jackets for Mammography and Angiography patients.

  • Receive and distribute film in person and by mail.

  • File mammogram reports into each jacket.

  • Photocopy and transmit reports via FAX and teleradiology equipment to physicians, doctor offices, etc.

  • Respond to request for information about physicians reports using digital dictation equipment.

  • Insure that all STATS and ASAP requests are processed quickly and given to proper staff.

  • Make hard copy films from AGFA System.

  • Process all subpoenas and arrange for lawyer payment before copies are made.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.

  • Send outside films back to offices, clinics and hospitals.

  • Request for outside films from outside facilities.

  • Retrieve previous jackets from campuses.

  • Perform other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.

  • Essential Functions:

  • Ability to be mobile, have normal manual dexterity;

  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally, written, by telephone with staff, physicians and patients;

  • Ability toplan, follow directions and problem solve;

  • Ability to teach, capable to learn the hospital, Radiology computer system and AGFA Network.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Sits at a computer, turns, stands and stoops; reaches for and lifts objects such asheavy film and jackets; can stand an entire shift; stoops, turns, reaches for and lifts, pulls andpushes heavy film carts and other equipment; will perform other related duties as required;.

  • Orientation Requirements:

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required; courses in filing, typing, basic computer skills, general office procedures, and medical terminology preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Prefer related office experience.

  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral and/or written instructions; must possess and demonstrate the necessary discretion in dealing with confidential information, communications skills, initiative, tact, diplomacy and dependability to perform all duties of position; must haveability to establish and maintain rapport with patients, employees, supervisors, and contacts external to the ministry; must be physically and mentally capable of performing all duties of the position; must be neat in personal appearance.
