About the Role

The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation and programs at Magna’s recreational property, Simeon Park during the summer season. This role will involve supervising staff, organizing events and activities, ensuring the smooth functioning of the park, and collaborating closely with the facilities/maintenance team to maintain the park.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations of Simeon Park and manage the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of comprehensive recreational programs and services in compliance with operational standards.

  • Supervise park staff including scheduling, training, evaluations, and hiring. Motivates and promotes an excellent customer service attitude in employees.

  • Develops policies and procedures, programs, and objectives for leisure, and recreation. Recommends and implements technical and operational procedures and systems to achieve improved economy and efficiency in recreation operations.

  • Supervises implementation and enforcement of risk management and safety policies, regulations, and procedures. Monitors accident, incident, and emergency situation reports; escalating as necessary.

  • Collaborates closely with the facilities/maintenance team to maintain the park's facilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience in Parks and Recreation Management, Hospitality Management, Sports Management, or a related field.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • Additional qualifications such as certifications in recreation management or related fields are a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a recreational setting.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and supervising the work of others: at least five (5) years.

  • Experience planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating diversified recreation programs and activities.

  • Strong ability to work autonomously and adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer service focus.

  • Understand and promote Magna values, philosophies, and policies.
