UNC Health Care Director, Plant Engineering, Construction and Envir Compl in Goldsboro, North Carolina

Summary:

The Director is responsible for directing and managing the plant operations, utilities distribution, maintenance, and repair of Wayne UNC Health Care's buildings, grounds, and facility systems. Responsibilities also include oversee major and 'minor construction projects within the Healthcare System.

Responsibilities:

1.Directs and manages the daily operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of industrial electrical, mechanical, plumbing, vertical/horizontal transport, access control, and other facility systems, including central boiler and chilled water distribution systems and associated utility support systems.

2.Implements processes to ensure preventative maintenance activities and repairs are managed in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited to The Joint Commission, NFPA, NCDHSR, and CMS.

3.Fully versed in Joint Commission, NFPA, EPA, and OSHA requirements and standards. Ensures the facilities are always survey-ready.

4.Fully responsible for all aspects of the organization's·construction projects which is not limited to project cost, completion schedule, budgeting, implementation, future maintenance, recordkeeping and reporting results to the Building and Grounds committee of the Health System Board of Directors.

5.Develop and maintain operational and capital budget for responsible departments.

6.Be a key member of the space committee to ensure that the facility is being utilized effectively.

7.Implements policies, procedures, and programs related to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of Wayne UNC Health Care's central energy plant, utility systems, Life Safety systems, leased/owned/managed real estate, and grounds maintenance.

8.Ensures teammates project a professional and technically adept impression to teammates and the public.

9.Participates in appropriate hospital committees. Serves as chair, as appointed on, of committees in areas of expertise (i.e. Life Safety, Building and Grounds, and Environmental care committees).

10.Monitors all sub-contractor performance and completion of tasks relating to repairs, equipment, or systems. Ensure sub-contractor comply to all governmental requirements.

11.Prepares requests for proposals (RFPs), scope of services, and contracts.

12.Verifies and processes invoices/purchase orders.

13.Ensures Senior Management is well informed regarding occurrences, trends, problems and issue that effect patient care or teammates.

14.Provides analysis and input into long range planning decisions of facility maintenance schedule.

15.Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and plans for management of the facility vehicles and transportation equipment.

16.Responds to customer complaints and concerns promptly address.

17.Keeps current in trends and developments in facilities management and related technology.

18.Communicates and shares information proactively with direct reports and department members.

19.Interviews and hires candidates, evaluates and coaches individual teammates, and issues discipline/corrective action to teammates in collaboration with Human Resources and Facilities Director, as needed.

20.Serves as a resource and role model for teammates. Promotes teamwork, growth and development within the department.

Other information:

Education

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, Electrical Engineering or similar is required, or 10-15 years of work experience or a combination of education and work experience.

•Master’s degree is preferred

Licensure/Certification

Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) is preferred.

Experience

Minimum five years of managing construction/plant operation in a healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Strong knowledge of automated building systems and computerized maintenance management systems desired.

•Project management and follow up skills.

•Demonstrates a results and detail-oriented mindset.

•Leadership qualities, e.g., maturity, job knowledge, professionalism, communication skills, etc. to lead, guide and motivate others.

•Excellent collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.

•Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.

Valid NC Driver’s License: Yes

If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
