General Mills is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Data Science and Modeling team within the Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) function. The ITQ function is the center of science innovation, product development, and quality activities for the company. In this role, you will be a key player on a team that is solving business problems within a data-rich science and engineering environment. You will have the opportunity to blend statistics, mathematics, modeling, and technology to transform data into actionable insights that drive business results. You will join a successful, multi-talented, analytics team and collaborate with partners inside and outside General Mills to further the growth and impact of statistics and data science on our business. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Work with teams to solve a wide range of problems using data. This includes an emphasis on consumer research, nutrition science and health research, as well as scientific experimentation and manufacturing operations. Consult with scientists and engineers to translate and summarize complex analyses into actionable insights and recommendations that directly solve problems and influence business decisions. Develop statistical and machine learning models with Python, R, or other languages and tools. You will have the opportunity to scale analytics solutions for big data within Google Cloud Platform and other environments, working with a wide range of open-source tools. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics, with 2+ years of experience in nutrition applications, healthcare applications or consumer and market research OR Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field with at 5+ years in related field. Demonstrated ability to solve business or technical problems. Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships in-person and virtually. Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform data into advanced analytic solutions Proficiency with an analytics programming language (e.g., R or Python), and with source code repositories such as git. Proficiency with SQL scripting languages, and experience with relational databases. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working within a global team. Familiarity with a cloud computing platform (GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience working within an R&D or scientific organization. Experience with food industry or consumer product development applications. ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS This position is located in the Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area and will work out of our World Headquarters in Golden Valley, MN. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $91900.00 - $138000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
