THIS IS A 10 MONTH PER YEAR POSITION - SCHEDULE IS BASED ON THE SCHOOL CALENDAR

Manage the delivery of health services to students at Perpich Arts High School serving high school students grades 11-12 in a residential school setting. Responsibilities include: Managing and administering medications and treatments to students per physician’s order and parent/guardian authorization and in accordance with the Nursing Practices Act and school policies and protocols. Perform nursing assessment of students and provide first aid, nursing care, intervention, referrals, and exclusion of students with certain infectious and contagious diseases and necessary follow-up; assessing and evaluating the health status of students in the school and in the residential dormitory. Set up and maintain medications, and confidential health files for students. Implement state and federal laws, regulations, and rules. Delegate nursing functions as necessary, with appropriate assessment, teaching, monitoring, and supervision according to the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act. Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and school personnel. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Minnesota.
Current CPR/AED certification for the Healthcare Professional.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians from diverse backgrounds
Problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and exercise professional judgment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of school and health-related issues.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a school nurse or public health nurse.
Knowledge of local and national health regulations in K-12 settings.
CPR Train the Trainer Certification or willingness to obtain certification
Experience working with high school students in a residential setting and students with mental health needs.

This position requires successful completion of the following:
Successful candidate must pass employer reference checks and criminal history check
Valid Class D Driver's License
