Working Hours:

Normal hours of work are 40/42 hours per week, depending on shift pattern required in order to meet the needs of the business.

Main Purpose of Job:

To provide support to the Laboratory Manager/Laboratory Supervisor.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

• Flexible to work shifts to ensure that 24/5/7 cover is provided by the Chemist team.

• Follow instructions to prepare and analyse samples to agreed timescales and to evaluate the chemical acceptability of product to internal and external standards reporting the results obtained.

• Plan workload and analysis schedules in conjunction with the production departments so that agreed volumes and time targets are met.

• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation in laboratory to ensure minimum downtime.

• Liaise and communicate effectively with other departments as required.

• Work to required standards and assist in maintaining quality systems/standards.

• Suggest and prepare amendments to internal instructions /methods as required, as well as those resulting from development and validation of new methods.

• Raise internal nonconformance as required.

• Comply with company working and safety practices and polices.
