The Cotton Trader located in Glenview, IL will utilize his in-depth knowledge and skills in finance and business to conduct financial analysis and develop trading and investment strategies in order to help the management make better financial decisions.

Essential responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Work closely with trading team and cost accounting team to maintain physical inventory modules and corresponding futures derivatives pricing for maximized profits and minimized financial risks.
  2. Communicate with other departments regarding purchase/sales plan, financial arrangements (payment term, timelines) and logistics updates (shipment loading, delivery details etc.) to obtain and integrate key information as regards to the type of procurement, trading volume projections, financial projection, shipment arrangements, pricing terms and etc.
  3. Identify different pricing methods, such as floating, fixed, floor and ceiling and basis pricing methods, and build pricing models to quantify the commodity exposures for current inventory/forecast inventory purchased & sold based on factors such as market price movement, quantities, timeframe, conversion rate, and etc.; make detailed hedging strategies for different purchase/sales contracts to lower hedging costs, build proper positions and solve potential mismatch problem to avoid additional hedging cost.
  4. Conduct pricing fixing activities, such as EFP (exchange of futures for physicals), to lock in and formulate purchase/sales price to minimize impacts on inventory value as well as structured margins; conduct other activities such as pricing adjustments and rolling, to adjust the futures positions to actual quantity and maturity type based on physical commodity final fulfilment information from logistics side.
  5. Based on reporting and analysis, make recommendations to manager to save costs, scale for the future and maintain data accuracy. This may include recommendations relating to purchase price, logistic plan, inventory origin, and customer demand reorganize.
  6. Setting P&L target of commodity trading.
  7. Maintaining and updating standard costs of commodity value.
  8. Partnering with trading managers to develop and tracking price trend.
  9. Updating forecasts, providing variance analysis, and providing commodity cost analysis
  10. Identify cost objects, allocate related costs and integrate cost information from physical commodities and futures account to compute final purchasing cost and report to management (COGS Analysis Report) on a regular basis.
  11. Conduct supply and demand analysis, commodity future price trend forecast, and market risk management.
  12. Actively monitor financial markets for trade opportunities and the performance of individual commodities.
  13. Apply Options and OTC derivatives to minimize market risk of both physical and futures position.
  14. Execute annual goals as assigned based on trading book.
  15. Maintain strict compliance with all investment policies and company specific guidelines.
  16. Assist in the effort to continuously improve the capability and scalability of the teams investment process.

Minimum Job requirements:

  1. Accredited Masters degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  2. At least 2 years of experience in commodity trading on futures exchanges, including CME, ICE, LME, etc.
  3. Trading knowledge of futures, options and OTC trading.
  4. Working knowledge of at least one widely use futures and options trading platform, such as CQG, WEBOE, etc.
  5. Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, such as Macro, VBA, Pivot, etc.
  6. St ong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
