We are currently hiring a Domestic Violence Family Court Advocate.

The Domestic Violence Project of Warren and Washington Counties seeks a full time domestic violence Family Court Specialist based on-site at Family Court. Responsible for providing individual client support, legal system advocacy, advocacy with other human services, referral to ancillary community services, interacting with various public and community agencies, case management, and outreach.

As the Domestic Violence Family Court Advocate, you would be responsible for:

• Answer calls received during office hours and assist walk-in clients.

• Serve as coordinator of Family Court project including coordination and planning with partners, planning and implementing trainings, community outreach and direct client assistance.

• Complete an intake process with each new client that includes an assessment of needed supports and services, available resources and a plan for implementation.

• Develop and implement an assessment process used to determine each clients’ needs and create, execute and modify an ongoing service plan.

• Provide similar services for clients placed in emergency housing working in conjunction with the Shelter Manger.

• Accompany clients to proceedings, explain process and provide case advocacy with appropriate parties, i.e. attorney, law guardian, cps staff, etc.

Domestic Violence Family Court Advocate Minimum Salary: $20.00 per hour

Domestic Violence Family Court Advocate Maximum Salary: $20.00 per hour

Domestic Violence Family Court Advocate Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, 35 hours per week with some on-call shifts on evenings and weekends

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree preferred

• 1 to 3 years experience

• Must have relevant human service experience including direct client work, be comfortable working with individuals in crisis.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Knowledge of local community resources.

• Interest in and commitment to anti-oppression and social justice work.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Must have reliable daily transportation.
