Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

This position supervises, directs, and assists in the maintenance and electrical workflow, supports production functions of the facility, and oversees all technical issues that arise. The primary goal is to minimize downtime, assist with processes and operations, and improve operational efficiencies. 90% of the time will be spent hands-on on the floor, with 10% devoted to administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a maintenance staff.

  • Review work orders, assign tasks to employees, and verify the quality of work performed.

  • Oversee and participate in the preventive maintenance program, ensuring timely completion and appropriate documentation.

  • Coordinate, schedule, perform, and/or direct all interior building maintenance including HVAC, painting, floor care, electrical systems, and plumbing systems.

  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts following specifications and blueprints using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.

  • Interact with other departments as a technical resource for manufacturing processes and equipment operation.

  • Enhance processes, test methodologies, and conduct failure analysis.

  • Maintain all records necessary to the machine and maintenance shop.

  • Ensure all equipment has proper safety controls and devices.

  • Troubleshoot equipment, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Maintain dies and die components including cleaning, lubrication, wear component replacement, and surface re-finishing.

  • Document and control proper levels and overall inventories of replacement parts. Create and maintain a Kanban system for common components.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to equipment, processes, and procedures. Contribute to Lean ideas and projects.

  • Repair and fabricate parts that cannot be purchased economically or timely.

  • Perform hands-on machine building as needed.

  • Layout and wire control panels based on schematics.

  • Develop and test prototypes.

  • Modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing processes.

  • Monitor progress of repairs and PMs and report status to Engineering.

Essential Skills

  • 5 years or more of experience as a maintenance technician within a manufacturing environment, with lead, supervisor, or leadership experience.

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, diagrams, and schematics.

  • Mechanical skills.

  • Troubleshooting skills in mechanical, machine, electrical, PLC, and preventative maintenance.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and gearboxes.

  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems and Allen-Bradley PLCs.
