Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This position is for a Maintenance Technician in a metal manufacturing company where you will work on mainly manual but automated equipment in certain areas of the facility.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on notching machines, sharpening machines, welders, and other equipment in the facility.

The purpose of the position is to service, maintain, and upgrade existing production equipment and facilities as well as build new machinery.

The priority of your work will be determined based on safety, machine downtime, preventative maintenance, and equipment improvements.

You should be comfortable with daily work involving 30% mechanical and 70% electrical tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safe, proper, and efficient function. Document associated tasks and parts used/replaced.

  • Diagnose problems with mechanical assemblies and repair or replace bearings, belts, pulleys, and gears.

  • Make replacement and prototype parts and fixtures by machining and fabrication.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and assemble small punch press dies and components.

  • Assist in the storage and management of replacement parts and components.

  • Analyze, install, and maintain water, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Make repairs and replace worn or defective parts such as gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and piping.

  • Troubleshoot machine control circuits (switches, relays, fuses, indicators, sensors).

  • Diagnose motor failures, use electrical test instrumentation including multimeters and amp meters. Install dual-voltage motors.
