State Farm Stadium

Completed in August of 2006, State Farm Stadium has set the standard in multi-purpose NFL Facilities. The stadium is home to a variety of different events including Arizona Cardinals home games, the annual Fiesta Bowl, Super Bowl’s, NCAA Championships, international soccer matches, motorsports, trade & consumer shows, and corporate & social functions.

Designed with a roll-out natural grass field and retractable roof, the first of its kind in North America, the stadium is capable of converting from a sports facility to a multi-functional event space allowing it to host numerous event types in air-conditioned comfort.

About the Position

ASM Global is seeking to hire a Director of Facilities at State Farm Stadium. The Director of Facilities is responsible for the building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, maintenance and engineering of the field tray and retractable roof systems. This position is responsible for providing daily leadership of the Facilities team members and subcontracted partners including administrative functions, training and monitoring work assignments and its quality. The Director will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance and the appropriate programs for all building equipment and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall appearance, general operation, and repair of the facility’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and overall building systems.

  • Oversee the upkeep and operation of the field tray and the retractable roof.

  • Oversight, scheduling and maintaining the Building Automation Systems (BAS).

  • Assist and provide guidance where needed of the Fire & Life Safety Systems with other department staff.

  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise all stadium Facilities staff. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve required goals.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain all preventative maintenance schedules for all building systems and equipment utilizing existing CMMS system (Altum)

  • Monitor CMMS system daily and monthly to achieve required completion goals.

  • Assist in development of annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Manage department specific long term and short-term projects.

  • Oversee and direct sub-contracted partners and service agreements ensuring that all work is performed to job specifications and to the stadium’s high-quality standards.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of department Standard Operating Procedures for all Facilities functions and building systems.

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all stadium team members, guests, and stakeholders, including assisting in development and training of our comprehensive workplace safety program, following all OSHA and State / local safety regulations.

  • Oversee the Stadium’s Energy Management Program to include continued training and implementation of energy savings initiatives.

  • Conduct frequent building inspections, note deficiencies, and develop necessary action plans for remediation.

  • Work with the Stadium Event Services Department to ensure that each event’s building needs are met and staffed accordingly.

  • Assist all internal departments, vendors, and clients as assigned and perform other job-related duties as requested or necessary for the Stadium’s continued success.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials including AutoCAD.

  • Excellent customer service skills required as this position requires frequent interaction with guests, vendors, and stakeholders.

  • Work independently, exercising effective judgment, integrity, discretion, and initiative.

  • Requires strong organizational skills, time management, detail oriented and planning skills.

  • Ability to remain flexible and adjust to changing priorities, work needs and schedules.

  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and make decisions that adhere to the goals, mission, and purpose of the Stadium.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.

    Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years supervisory role in responsible management and operational capacity in the industrial or commercial maintenance and repair of industrial or commercial facilities. Experience in the operation of a public assembly, hotel or other commercial facility is preferred.

  • Formal education (bachelor’s or technical trade school) in Facilities Management, Engineering, Mechanical or related field preferred.

  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) through IFMA is preferred.

  • Possess any additional licenses, certificates or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operations of the equipment found in the facility.

  • Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises.

  • Moderate lifting, at least seventy-five (75) pounds and/or strenuous working conditions.

  • Involves walking for up to 2 hours, bending, stooping, climbing (inclusive of ladders), must be able to work from scaffolding, catwalks, lifts, etc. and at heights of up to 160 feet.
