AEM - HEAD START Teacher in GLASGOW, Montana

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Associate Degree in early childhood education, or ability to obtain credential within required timeframe from date of hire
  • Ability to meet ALL Montana Childcare Licensing Rules and Regulations for administrative and teaching staff
  • Maintain a current 1st Aid and CPR certificate
  • Valid Drivers License and ability to be listed on company insurance for use of personal vehicle for work related purposes
  • Have personal vehicle and freedom to travel as required by Head Start duties and/or training
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Experience with young children in Head Start, preschool, or childcare setting preferred
  • Experience in working cooperatively as part of a team preferred

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintain overall classroom operations in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Ensure healthy and safe environments for children
  • Provide supervision, care and developmentally appropriate learning activities to preschool aged children in a classroom environment
  • Stay abreast of current advances in child development theories and educational techniques
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, parents and others encountered in the course of work
  • Provide an age-appropriate learning environment that allows for individual differences
  • Promote and encourage a positive learning environment and nurturing teacher child interactions
  • Implement all curricula, including Creative Curriculum, to fidelity to guide the creation of the learning environment
  • Plan and prepare weekly lessons and identify and select instructional supplies and provide instruction to students
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children
  • Establish and maintain an attractive, clean, safe and functional environment that supports equity, inclusiveness, cultural and linguistic responsiveness
  • Observe, document and assess the developmental level of each child to include data entry in Teaching Strategies Gold
  • Use appropriate tools and information from parents, staff and professionals to create an individualized plan for each enrolled child
  • Coordinate with Education and Disabilities Coordinator to incorporate Individualized Education Plan or behavior plan goals as needed
  • Prepare reports and monitor the ongoing progress of each individual child on an ongoing basis
  • Provide a monthly classroom newsletter and calendar for families and contribute to the agency newsletters or reports as requested
  • Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences for each child at least two times per year in accordance with HSPPS
  • Communicate with parents about the educational and social progress of children
  • Maintain health and safety of Head Start children and staff by practicing active supervision
  • Adhere to agency policy on positive behavior supports as stated in Head Start personnel policies
  • Assist in recruitment of Head Start eligible families
  • Work as a team to complete weekly cleaning checklists
  • Follow Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines during meals and food activities in the classroom

Seasonal position, working 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day, Monday - Friday, on days school is in session, August - May.

$17.16 per hour and up, depending on experience. Benefits include: paid vacation, sick leave, 401K and health insurance.
