Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Engineering Inspector.

The Engineering Inspector reports to the Engineering Inspections Supervisor. The primary function of this position is inspect public and private infrastructure improvements in the Town of Gilbert including Development Services, Public Works, CIP, Water, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Drain projects using Maricopa County (MAG) and Town of Gilbert Engineering Standards and Details.

This position is At-Will and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.

Candidates for an Engineering Inspector I must possess the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

  • 1-2 years of experience such as engineering, project management, construction inspection, materials testing, or related field (Engineering)

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job classification.

  • Valid AZ Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Understanding of applicable Federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations and ordinances and automated inspection record database systems.

  • General knowledge of civil engineering and public works practices to include water/sewer installation, materials, testing, backfill and compaction requirements, concrete, street and paving requirements.

  • Familiarization with applicable MAG and Town of Gilbert standard details and specifications.

    SKILLS IN:

  • Inspection and final acceptance of development and public works projects

  • Working with non-city utilities.

  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Preparing inspection reports and documentation.

  • Reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings.

  • Making sound decisions, utilizing good judgement.

  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
