The role
We are the Thermo Fisher NanoPort team. As the largest Electron Microscopy demo labs in the world, NanoPort team supports sales of all Electron Microscopy products through demonstrations and serves as a meeting place for Thermo Fisher Applications Scientists and customers to collaborate using NanoPort demo instruments. For all these functions, the performance of the microscopes to the highest standards and the general functioning and appearance of the NanoPort lab is critical. We provide technical and scientific expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Global sales efforts.
Join us as a Field Application Scientist in Transmission Electron Microscope and assist us in our mission to become the world leader in serving science. This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, demonstration, guidance, application support/troubleshooting and Technical sales/marketing support.

How will you make an impact?
We will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by remote support station, phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor. In doing so, we will help to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Performing high quality TEM product demonstrations, the development of new techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher partners and customers
Deliver TEM application training and customer support
Support automated TEM application
Cultivate positive customer relationships and act as key technical interface for customer
Understand and solve customer challenges through the development of solutions with Thermo Fisher tools
Develop BKM (Best Known Method) and production-ready recipes with Thermo Fisher tools
Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on customer requests, tool performance, and potential issues in order to influence product and market development
Support service team to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and collaborate with factory teams to resolve issues
Ensure customized acceptance test of new tools
Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customers and Thermo Fisher internal groups
Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in TEM and related subjects
How will you get here?
Education
- Masters Degree in materials science, applied physics or similar (PhD preferred)
Experience
More than 5 years experience in TEM related to Materials Science
Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Good knowledge on TEM: Diffraction, Imaging
Experience in Thermo Scientific TEM, Tecnai/Talos/Titan/Themis/Spectra (TIA, Velox, CEOS, GMS…)
Customer-facing experience, with the emotional intelligence to understand customer concerns
Able to connect with and support people optimally with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
Better with some management experience
Good digital literacy and have an interest for groundbreaking technology
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%)
