Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Marriott Ghent. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

Aimbridge Hospitality are looking to recruit a seasoned General Manager for a completely unique opportunity in Ghent.

The next 12 months will see the historic Marriott Ghent and Residence Inn Ghent joined by two new properties; The newly rebuilt Holiday Inn Express and Suites (due to open its doors in October 2024) and The Marriott Courtyard (due to join the group in June 2025)

We’re now looking to recruit an experienced operator who can take the helm as General Manager based at the historical Marriott Ghent and oversee all the properties in the group strategically as Managing Director.

Managed by Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, these additions will create an expansive new group of hotels consisting of nearly 600 rooms, Multiple dining venues, a destination restaurant and non branded meeting centre.

A Day in the Life of…

• As General Manager and Managing Director, you’ll be a well-polished ambassador for property, brand and owner with one constant eye on the bigger picture across the group of hotels, taking the lead on strategic business decisions.

• As key strategic reference point for the hotels, you’ll be the main link between ownership and the group, including the Marriott Ghent where you’ll manage day to day operations.

• You’ll use your established experience across operations and commercial business to drive a first-class culture of working across all 6 business units, comprising of the four hotels, meetings centre and destination restaurant: focusing on talent development, retention, and cultural adaptability to ensure all stakeholders think like a guest and act like an owner.

• As a community stakeholder, you’ll constantly be championing the Ghent business community and building strong relationships in the local market to drive revenue across the portfolio.

• With your finger constantly on the pulse of changes in the hospitality industry and other markets, you’ll be able to execute change and keep all properties constantly moving forward towards their goals.

What do we need from you?

• You’ll be an established strategic operator with extensive experience of delivering to first class brand standards across established hotel brands.

• As a first-class communicator, you’ll be able to manage stakeholder relationships with owner, brand, teams, commercial groups and the local business community as a respected ambassador and the main representative of the group.

• With a strategic mindset, you’ll have experience of driving strategy that will enable you to manage operations, commerciality and have the overall say across this diverse and expansive new group of hotels.

• Working across this array of brands and select/full-service properties, you’ll be able to demonstrate extensive experience of cultural adaptability, with one eye on the bigger picture at all times.
