Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager of Volunteer Services and Pastoral Care provides direction and supervision to all volunteers, including Chaplains. Serves as liaison between Auxiliary and Administration and provides guidance for Pastoral Care Department. Organizes and coordinates programs for the utilization of volunteers. Provides direction and supervision to all volunteer Chaplains, handles referrals of patients/families for spiritual support, crisis intervention, and ethical consultation and provides pastoral care services for patients, families, staff and community.

  • You will oversee the assessment of volunteer needs and recruitment of volunteers to meet St. David’s Georgetown Hospital’s needs.

  • You will place volunteers according to department job descriptions.

  • You will provide volunteer training.

  • You will evaluate the volunteer program on an ongoing basis.

  • You will provide spiritual support to patients/families and staff as requested.

  • You will respond to Dr. Leo codes and other crisis situations where assistance with distressed patients/family members is needed.

  • You will serve as an access point for the Ethics Committee. Provides information, along with Case Managers and Social Workers, on Advance Directives to patients as requested. You will direct Supervisor of Chaplains

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

  • Preferred: Master’s of Divinity (or equivalent) from an accredited theological seminary, at least three quarters (or equivalent) of Clinical Pastoral Education, and certification or ability to become certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains or an equivalent accrediting organization.
