POSITION SUMMARY:
The Government and Non-Government Team Leaders are responsible for monitoring the efficiency of the Collections Specialists and the Patient Account Representatives. He/she must ensure prompt, courteous handling of patient accounts during the process of collecting balances owed to the hospital. He/she acts as a liaison to various departments within the hospital as well as agencies outside the hospital. He/she monitors and evaluates services provided and designs and revises procedures in collaboration with other departments. The Team Leader participates in orienting and assigning staff to assure adequate coverage. He/she participates in designing, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating the quality improvement program for the Patient Financial Services Department. The Team Leader fosters a patient-focused environment in PFS, oversees the establishment and implementation of acceptable standards of services, and creates a vision for the area that reflects the values of Finger Lakes Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Some applicable work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Preferred:
Technical school training, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Practices.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Must have knowledge of Federal and State billing and collections compliance rules.
Three years’ experience as a Patient Account Billing Rep in a Healthcare Environment.
Ability to assume an active role in both problem identification and problem resolution.
Experience to include knowledge of relevant third party billing regulations, requirements, and CPT coding.
Preferred:
Prior leadership experience.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Satisfactory or above work record for two years.
Successful completion of in-house billing competency test.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
Computer literacy
Preferred :
Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
Salary Range: $19.73-$22.90
