BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY Performs advanced (senior-level) construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work. Work involves National Guard facility repair, renovation, restoration, and alteration for the designated trade skill in Region III. May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Reports to Region III Maintenance Supervisor and works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. WORK HOURS:Monday Friday, 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week ESSENTIAL OB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plans, schedules, and oversees building repairs, renovation, restoration projects, preventative maintenance, and facility upkeep. Coordinates and oversees contracted work on repairs and maintenance of the facility. Examines structures, evaluates work to be performed, and selects the best methods for maintenance and repair work. Coordinates or schedules building repair, renovation, or restoration projects. Coordinates workshop operations to fabricate specialized items needed for projects or to refinish furniture, doors, and paneling. Performs welding, brazing, or soldering operations for metal work reconstruction or fabrication. Examines and interprets drawings, diagrams, and blueprints. Inspects finished projects to ensure compliance with building regulations and contracting standards. Requisitions materials and equipment, maintains records of materials used, calculates costs, and orders parts and supplies. Designs, assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains modular furniture. Performs maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, and components. Identifies and addresses defects in wiring, circuit breakers, fuses, switches, sockets, and plumbing fixtures. May assist in on-call duties for after-hours facility emergencies. May serve as a lead worker, providing direction to others. Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies procedures handbook. May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters, missions and other requests to include holidays, evenings and weekends. Performs related work as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. PREFERRED EDUCATION Vocational training in a designated trade is preferred. Construction management training is preferred. EXPERIENCE 4 years of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work. Experience using Microsoft Office (such as Outlook, Word, or Excel)is required. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Experience with HVAC is preferred. Building management experience is preferred. REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE A valid driver's license is required. *The ability to obtain a Texas Drivers License will be required within the first 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business. Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing certification is preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS The selected candidate must pass federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85. Completed forms are submitted to the OPM for the background investigations. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires all new employees to present proof of eligibility to work in the United States within three (3) days of being hired.
