Description

Position Overview

The responsibility of a Parts Room Coordinator is to provide technical and administrative leadership to the organization by applying part organization and procuring methods to ensure that the plant has the correct/quantity of parts at the facility. This role involves organizing the parts room, tracking inventory levels, ensuring the availability of critical components, and supporting the maintenance team with timely and accurate parts delivery.

The Parts Room Coordinator optimizes stocking and purchasing of parts by anticipating and removing any obstacles or delays through vendor relationships and utilizing all supply chain options.

Principal Duties

  • Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of all parts and supplies in the inventory management system.

  • Conduct regular inventory audits/cycle counts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder parts as needed to prevent shortages.

  • Source parts to optimize contract agreements, lead times and reliability

  • Oversee VMI programs and place PO’s for restocking

  • Manage obsolete parts program.

  • Parts Room Organization:

  • Ensure the parts room is clean, organized, and efficiently laid out for easy access to parts.

  • Label and store parts systematically to facilitate quick retrieval.

  • Kit parts for work orders generated in CMMS system

  • Procurement and Receiving:

  • Order all parts and supplies for the parts room.

  • Receive, inspect and stock incoming parts for accuracy and quality.

  • Follow up with vendors for accurate lead times on orders or deliveries.

  • Build and leverage vendor relationships

  • Support Manufacturing Team:

  • Provide excellent customer service to maintenance technicians and plant personnel in locating and retrieving parts.

  • Ensure critical parts are available to minimize equipment downtime.

  • This role will serve as a backup to the Maintenance Planner

  • Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of parts usage and inventory levels.

  • Generate reports on inventory status, parts usage, and reordering needs.

  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and opportunities for reliability.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement improvements in parts room processes and systems.

  • Participate in root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies and develop corrective actions.

  • Stay updated on best practices in inventory management and apply them to the parts room operations.

    Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of MRO and CMMS systems

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment in parts room or related occupation.

  • Ability to read SOP’s, blueprints, and methods manuals. Comprehend and follow directions to comply with analytical, quality control requirements, and product specifications.
