JOB SUMMARY:

The Instructional Technologist will be responsible for providing and coordinating just-in-time and workshop support to faculty on educational technologies, including training directly related to the institution’s learning management system (Moodle) and related digital tools (including, but not limited to, enterprise-wide platforms such as Panopto, VoiceThread, and Zoom). In addition, the Instructional Technologist will stay abreast of emerging technologies, create resources and asynchronous trainings for the department and faculty, and serve as a liaison between the department and IT / University Libraries in terms of technology support for faculty. This position supervises a team of student technologists, and reports to the Director of the Faculty Center.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $57,400 - $62,400. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provides advanced technical support to faculty for the institution's learning management system (Moodle)

  • Assists faculty with integrating educational technologies into their courses

  • Develops, coordinates, and facilitates educational technology-focused workshops and collaborates closely with Instructional Designers/Interactive Learning Designers to assess and address the needs of faculty

  • Assists faculty directly with one-on-one just-in-time support through emails, phone calls, Zoom meetings, and in-person meetings

  • Trains, schedules, and supervises Student Technologists and Graduate Assistants to provide just-in-time support and customer service to faculty for supported educational technologies

  • Ensures full coverage of the Learning Commons space to support faculty just-in-time needs

  • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures regarding student employment, including timekeeping and payroll, as well as any relevant federal and state labor laws

  • Follows up with faculty on just-in-time support to assess if further assistance is needed

  • Develops, maintains, and updates tutorials and resources for supporting the innovative use of educational technology

  • Supervises the collection and maintenance of Learning Commons usage data

  • Creates reports on Commons’ visitor data to optimize staffing levels & inform faculty training

  • Develops and administers satisfaction surveys to faculty visitors

  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and provides insights to department staff

  • Maintains knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG, Section 508) and provides guidance to faculty on creating accessible online learning environments / materials

  • Develops and implements processes and policies that are informed by best practices in the field

  • Serves as a liaison between the department and IT / University Libraries in terms of technology support for faculty

  • Maintains hardware & software on all Faculty Center workstations

  • Collaborates with IT on scheduling and setting priorities for updates in the department

  • Maintains department hardware inventory

  • Oversees dissemination of information from Senior Staff to Student Technologists

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree with at least two years’ experience working with educational / instructional technology, technology training, or teaching at the university level.

  • Must be able to lead and direct others; supe rvisory and budget experience helpful.

  • Ability and willingness to develop collaborative and supportive relationships with faculty.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (i.e. Moodle, Canvas, Brightspace, etc.).

  • Ability to effectively communicate and consult on the use of a variety of instructional technologies with faculty who have varying levels of a technical background.

  • Strong interpersonal skills , compassion, patience.

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with the use of various applications and platforms (Microsoft Office/Teams, Google Apps, VoiceThread, Panopto, Zoom, H5P, Scribe, Articulate, Adobe Suite ).

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology.

  • Ability to work evenings, if necessary.
