JOB SUMMARY:

The department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Adelphi University invites applications for one full-time, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to start on the first day of our Fall 2025 semester. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and with a strong research agenda.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in our undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and our Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. The candidate must maintain and expand a scholarly publication record and serve as an active member of the Adelphi community by engaging in institutional service. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering diversity and inclusion while teaching a diverse student body. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is interested in further strengthening the diversity of its faculty and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach 18 credits annually (approximately three courses per semester)

  2. Conduct research in topics relevant to mathematics and publish in peer-reviewed publications

  3. Contribute to student growth and development through active involvement in student related activities (e.g., advising, working with student organizations)

  4. Provide service to the university.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  5. A doctoral degree in mathematics or closely related discipline is required at time of appointment as a tenure-track member of the faculty.

  6. Familiarity with our departmental curricular initiatives in mathematics and computer science is strongly preferred.

    SALARY INFORMATION:

    In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $79,000 - $81,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
