The Earth Elements Stone Fabrication Shop is a state-of-the-art digital natural and engineered stone fabrication shop. Serving the Bozeman and Big Sky Area. With 20,000 square feet and multiple digital machines, we are the largest operator in the area. Our Stone Fabrication Shop serves the Design Center next door. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful applicant to join this fast-growing company. Earth Elements Design Center supplies high-end custom home interior finishes to the building industry. We are a complete one-stop shop with Appliances, Cabinetry, Doors and Door Hardware, Lighting, Slab, Tile, and Wood Flooring.
The Job
The Lead Stone Fabricator is responsible for performing all functions necessary to complete the fabrication of natural and engineered stone countertops and various finish goods on the production floor.
Review schedule with the Fabrication Manager to plan, delegate and execute duties for projects
Review drawings and instructions for fabrication to anticipate any issues in order to hit deadlines
Ensuring that Fabricators have materials and supplies needed, or informing Project Coordinator for re-order
Work with the Fabrication Manager to stage parts and carts for projects
Execute proper material checks for quality assurance on each piece
Execute a high level of planning to efficiently set up multiple production stages
Utilization of the Fastback to increase flat polishing
Coordinating with the Saw or Titan to true pieces as necessary
Plan and execute re-finish of parts as necessary
Assist with forklift operations, as needed
Assist with customer pick-ups, as needed
Ensure all parts and pieces are meticulously checked for quality, to include: quality of finished dimensions to template or paperwork, and quality of finished product to highest known craft prior to Fabricators moving pieces to the A-Frame
Ensure associated paperwork and install instructions are laid out for all racks
Document the process and set up for installers to ensure success with re-surfacing
Supervises and trains Fabricators on daily tasks and activities
Directs and/or assists in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions, explaining procedures to new employees, etc.
Reviews work product of supervisees to ensure accuracy and completeness, ensuring the employee is able to hit the deadline of projects and escalates concerns with work performance to Manager
Supervisory responsibilities include being responsible for directing the workflow for the assigned team in coordination with the Fabrication Manager.
This job operates in a warehouse and shop setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses equipment such as computers, phones, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, heavy machinery (i.e. forklifts), and shop tools such as pneumatic polishers, wet polishing pads, handheld wet saw, handheld grinder and measuring devices.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 75 lbs., frequently move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. and use of heavy machinery for equipment up to 1,000 lbs.
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Thursday; 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with additional hours and schedule changes as needed for business purposes.
Travel is primarily local, up to 2 hour driving distance during the business day may be expected. Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record, per insurance eligibility requirements.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent, required
3-5 years of experience with stone/countertop fabrication or demonstrated competency, required
21 years of age per DOT regulations
Valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record, able to meet insurability qualifications
Competencies required are Computer Proficiency/Technical Capacity, Time Management, Quality Focus, Results Driven, and Supply Management.
