**Summary The purpose of this position is to collaborate with students in need, connecting them to campus and community resources in order to support emotional health and overall well-being. Maintain the colleges vision, develop and provide programming to promote mental health and wellness, and cultivate relationships to provide needed resources within the college and community. Some travel required between campuses. Knowledge of social service delivery systems, campus resources, and community services required. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Contact, assess, and provide brief counseling, mental health advocacy, and case management interventions and ongoing follow up for students who have been referred through the CARES or Counseling contacts in order to ensure safety and wellbeing
  • Maintain data to analyze counseling and CARES-related trends by using excel spreadsheets in order to see what resources are needed for student population
  • Collaborate with Financial Aid and the Foundation Office to review Emergency Assistance Requests, contact students, and refer appropriately to Foundation or community resources.
  • Network, partner, and maintain ongoing, as well as establish new, relationships with local agencies to have knowledge for referrals in order to care for student needs

  • Participate in and contribute to planning with NCTC Committees and various sub-committees, such as CARES Team and the Awareness Group.
  • Assist in creating and planning regular in-person and virtual events related to mental health and/or wellness.
  • Collaborate with various instructional departments, as well as Housing and Athletics, to meet mental health and wellness needs of these specific populations.
  • Collect, create, and promote resources for students related to health, wellness, well-being, and safety, and make the resources available to students, staff, and public.
  • Participate in and deliver professional development and attend staff trainings related to counseling and wellness.
  • Perform clerical, office duties by answering phone calls, directing or transferring caller to appropriate office/personnel, providing general college information, and all other academic or college/campus questions by phone, email, in person in office, completes faxing, copying, computer work and scheduling.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the need of the department and the institution.

**Required Education: [Masters degree in Counseling or related area [Licensed Mental Health Professional: Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate credential or higher - Required

  • One year of counseling, mental health, and/or social work experience

Required Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of counseling approaches, crisis intervention, and ability to refer

Knowledge of mental, social, educational, behavioral health, and of diverse populations

Ability to empathize, listen, build trust, build rapport, and maintain confidentiality

Strong interpersonal skills

Possess strong written and communication skills

.Ability to build relationships with community partners and build referral sources

Ability to multitask and knowledge of multiple computer
