Hall County Animal Control Dispatcher in Gainesville, Georgia

JOB SUMMARY:

Participates in the operation and monitoring of radio dispatch and telephone systems, utilizing multiple-channels and frequencies at the Animal Control office. Receives, logs, and dispatches calls to appropriate personnel and secures proper information from persons in states of excitement or panic to ensure adequate emergency response. Will perform Administrative duties in the Animal Control office assisting officers as well as the public as needed. Position will also serve as an Animal Control Officer when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORKS UNDER INDIRECT SUPERVISION:

Answers Animal Control related calls from citizens of Hall County; obtains vital information and enters information in CAD; refers callers to appropriate agencies and/or contacts agencies and obtains assistance for caller and or officers

Maintains and updates computer information on calls or refers needed change to Supervisor, files all pertinent logs, tapes, and other records daily.

Transmits and receives messages from a number of law enforcement units, emergency response units, local, state and federal agencies, wrecker services, FAA, utility companies, and others. Enters information received on calls in the CAD.

Handles open record request.

Maintains training records.

Maintains on-call roster.

Recognizes duplicate and related calls and screens calls from trouble areas.

Assists public over the telephone in order to obtain accurate and pertinent information.

Maintains constant knowledge of all available units, chase procedures, and emergency alert and disaster procedures.

Dispatches emergency equipment.

Maintains radio contact with other public safety agencies.

Operates GCIC/NCIC System. Receives information on stolen vehicles, articles, wanted/missing persons, and drivers histories. Makes entries into or remove entries from the GCIC/NCIC System.

Maintains agency GCIC/NCIC records and compliance

Maintains knowledge of all main thoroughfares, access routes and current construction in progress.

Attends schools and classes as required or instructed for GCIC/NCIC System

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Assists Animal Control Officers with case files, bite reports, data entry and open records request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:
