The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking a full-time Project Manager and Assistant to the Director to work with the Director and other senior personnel of The Polyploidy Integration and Innovation Institute (PI3) to ensure efficient and effective completion of project goals and objectives.

The Polyploidy Integration and Innovation Institute (PI3), headquartered at the Florida Museum and funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) as a Biology Integration Institute, is developing and implementing an integrated research and training program on polyploidy, spanning cells to ecosystems and species across the Tree of Life. PI3 – composed of scientists and trainees at UF and 8 other institutions – will perform cutting-edge research and provide state-of-the-art training to students and post-docs, including undergraduates from across the US. As PI3 develops, it will encompass researchers studying polyploidy from many perspectives and in many species.

Develop and implement a Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan (RAMP), develop and implement a comprehensive Project Execution Plan (PEP) to ensure efficient and effective completion of PI3’s goals and objectives, and define and organize the project’s tasks into a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or alternative that optimizes the allocation and integration of resources necessary to meet project objectives. Revise and update the RAMP, PEP, WBS, and other documentation as needed in consultation with the PI3 Director and other members of the senior management team.

Manage workflows and solve problems related to scope, time, and cost of the project at PI3 to establish efficient and effective strategies and methods as described in the project management plan. Oversee PI3’s operations, goals, requirements development, and activity coordination.

Serve as an expert resource for the polyploidy community in the areas of leadership, management, strategic planning, and project execution planning. Lead or teach webinars, courses, discussion groups, etc. in these topical areas throughout the year, as needed.

Lead the administration of PI3’s website, wiki, project management software, communication software, and virtual meeting software.

Provide the framework and oversight for detailed cost estimating and control.

Prepare and submit reports to NSF, the External Advisory Board, and others as requested.

Supervise PI3 Program Assistant and work with other project staff, including outreach and K-12 educators, to meet the objectives of the project.

Participate and engage with PI3's developing network of polyploidy researchers at other institutions. Where appropriate and aligned with PI3’s mission, seek committee and/or leadership positions with other organizations to increase the prominence of PI3 within the scientific community.

Perform other relevant tasks and projects as requested by the project administrators.
