Job Description:

This position will assist in the management of the daily operations and workflow of the Radiomic Augmented Intelligence Laboratory (RAIL), in developing standard operation procedures (SOPs), in planning and implementing training programs, and interfacing with different departments, including IT, when appropriate. The position will also be involved in and/or oversee different projects including, but not limited to, the development of AI models in the lab and will oversee other technological aspects supporting the lab activities, as assigned.

RAIL Operation General Management

Manage daily operations workflow of the RAIL lab under the direction of Research Strategist. This work includes, but is not limited to (1) providing support for different lab projects such as (a) self-funded academic research projects; (b)externally funded research projects; and (c) other projects with academic-industry collaborations under the guidance of the RAIL lab director and Research Strategist; (2) serving as a point of contact and interface with external partners and internal organizational members and stakeholders; (3) ensuring progress of assigned projects and promoting engagement of lab members, employees, and trainees; (4) serving as a point of contact with UF or UF Health IT, as well as Research Computing and execute related tasks; (5) preparing monthly or quarterly progress reports to the RAIL lab leadership; (6) assisting in planning and coordinating all activities for the site visits, including timelines and checklists and workshops as needed; (7) coordinating with regulatory; and (8) managing other duties as assigned.

Participation in RAIL lab projects, operations, and administration

Participate and execute assigned tasks and projects: (1) setting up accounts for lab and other members as needed; (2) assisting in the maintenance and oversight of technological operations of the lab, including IT-related aspects; (3) Developing and maintaining standard operation procedures for the lab; (4) developing and implementing “tiered” levels of service, forms, and templates for researchers; (5) partnering on different research projects including AI development and validation, as determined by PI; (6) conducting machine learning experiments including training and/or validation of machine learning algorithms either in a lead or supportive role, as determined by the PI; (7) conducting other research and experiments and analysis as required; (8) providing oversight for lab employees in adhering to protocol and guidelines when appropriate.

Assist and oversight for financial and budgetary management of RAIL lab

(1) Preparing the operating budget, (2) tracking ordering list, and (3) scheduling and billing for lab time, as assigned.

Assist with the preparation and management of contracts and other sources of funding for the lab

(1) working with department members, interdepartmental teams, and/or external partners when appropriate; (2) managing grants compliance and deliverables; and (3) managing and overseeing contract execution for the lab, including deliverables.

Instruct and train staff in quality control and procedures.

The incumbent will oversee SOPs for the lab and will progress into greater knowledge and oversight of regulatory and compliance expectations for grant-funded research.

Develop and maintain the RAIL lab website

In partnership with designated departments and team members, the incumbent will oversee updates of the RAIL website with relevant and dynamic content, ensure the website reflects the cutting-edge research activities at the institution. This position will also assist the Research Strategist in writing accessible, public-facing data briefs for use in media and web dissemination.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area (computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field) and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to organize and prioritize (imperative)

  • High level of professionalism.

  • Experience in lab setting.
