Job Description:

The College of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of tenure-track Associate/Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research.

The College of Pharmacy is seeking a visionary leader for the Department with experience in collaborative research partnerships and who will further fulfill the department’s research vision for improved individualization of pharmacotherapy and nurturing the next generation of diverse scientists and leaders in pharmaceutical sciences. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of research, teaching, scholarly accomplishments and leadership. They should also be an accomplished educator with experience in professional and/or graduate education as well as mentoring both junior faculty and graduate students. The Chair will be expected to work with the department in a collaborative, inclusive, and transparent manner to promote overall interests and development of the department faculty, staff, postdocs, and students, and with the Dean and other College of Pharmacy leadership to fulfill its research, education, and governance missions.

The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research:TheDepartment of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research (https://ptr.pharmacy.ufl.edu/) faculty are very interactive and engaged leaders in clinical and translational research and education. The PTR department is highly integrative and collaborative, with active and strong programs in abroad range of research areas (https://ptr.pharmacy.ufl.edu/research/) . The department consists of 13 tenured/tenure-track, clinical, and research-track faculty in addition to affiliated faculty, across 3 campuses inGainesville, Jacksonville, and Orlando (https://pharmacy.ufl.edu/the-college/college-facts/campuses/) . It has a well-recognized residential graduate program with approximately 25 residential PhD and MS students. The department’s research infrastructure is supported by theCenter for Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine (https://precisionmedicine.ufhealth.org/research/center-for-pharmacogenomics-and-precision-medicine/) , which facilitates the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomic and precision medicine research, and teaching and service focused on genetically guided therapeutic decision-making and drug development.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate field.

Preferred Qualifications:Ideal candidates should have recognition as a current or emerging leader in a discipline aligned with the department’s focus, a track record in building synergistic teams to obtain research funding, applicable administrative/management experience, and ambitions for building on existing departmental assets to further strengthen an already high-performing multidisciplinary department. Preferred candidates should have experience in the development and fostering of interdepartmental collaborations as well as collaborations with other colleges and institutions both intramurally and extramurally.
