Turner Mining Group Health and Safety Coordinator in Gabbs, Nevada

POSITION SUMMARY:

o HAZCOM development

o Demonstrates safety leadership.

o Blue Card Certified (preferred)

o Motivated self-starter – carry out tasks with little or no supervision.

o Able to work independently and as a team. Provides field HS support and guidance throughout all activities.

Compliance

Ensure compliance with State and Federal MSHA regulatory HSE requirements.

Ensure compliance with contract HSE requirements.

Assists in the development and delivery of Operational Processes safely.

Enforces company policies and procedures.

Assists teams to deliver an exemplary HSE performance.

Performance Measurement

Identifies potential and actual areas of improvement and assists in setting and formulating goals and tools for their achievement.

Provides input to leading and lagging HSE performance measures.

Lessons Learned

Provides input to the collection of Lessons Learned for all activities.

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Assists teams in identifying hazards, assessing risks, and identifying relevant controls to manage and reduce these risks.

Fosters a safe culture by being informed, mindful, learning, fair and respectful.

Assurance

Perform audits to measure the level of safety culture.

Carries out or facilitates safety audits and inspections as per audit plan.

Provides HSE input to HSE Management System Reviews.

Incident Management

Ensures Incidents are recorded & reported.

Prepares initial detailed incident reports.

Carries out immediate Incident & Near Miss investigation.

Facilitates & participates in High-Level Incident investigations.

Training & Coaching

Ensures that the company safety expectations are communicated to the workforce.

Provides training sessions as per Training Plan & Competency development requirements.

Educates workforce on Lessons Learned from previous & industry incidents.

Contingency Management

Provide immediate response in emergency situations.

Reviews contingency drills to maintain and increase staff competency.

To assist in setting up an effective emergency response organization on site.

Training & Coaching

Coach teams on HSE and conduct HSE engagement sessions with them.

Working Environment

Carry out and follow up on workplace assessments.

Manage PPE inventory program.

Quality Control:

Monitor the quality of data entered in the reporting & action tracking tools.

Contractor/Vendor Management

Maintaining records - track expiration dates and notifying vendors if expiring – Insurance, Site Specific, MSHA 5000-23 for all contractor/vendors.

Record keeping Certificate of Liability Insurance

Record keeping Site Specific 5000-23 paperwork.

Record keeping Contractors MSHA 5000-23's

Conduct Safety Site Specific training with all visitors and contractors.

Preparation of Safety MSHA Site-Specific packets for contractors/vendors

Document control

New Miner training paperwork record keeping

AIS sheets

Track cards

Vehicle inspections

Monthly fire extinguisher inspections

Annual hearing and pulmonary testing

Computer Literacy

Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point

Adobe Acrobat

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years prior HS experience in a mine setting – MSHA regulated.
