St. Joseph Health Assoc Comms Operator (PBX Operator) in Fullerton, California

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Medical Office Administrator, the Switchboard Operator is responsible for insuring that all incoming calls are courteously and promptly answered and directed to the appropriate destination.

Essential Functions:

  1. Recall messages from answering service that were received while site was closed

  2. Assign on-call doctor’s beepers, keep checkout list up to date and accurate.

  3. During office hours, receive and direct all incoming calls following site protocol at all times.

  4. Ensure proper phone coverage during times away from switchboard.

  5. At end of day relocate calls to answering service, Turn switchboards to “night” function.

  6. Page both overhead and by air.

  7. Take messages as necessary utilizing appropriate site protocols.

  8. Initiate emergency code procedures.

  9. Provide patients with directions to all St. Joseph locations.

Additional Responsibilities:

-Attend site meetings to remain informed of changes

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

• Experience: 1-2 years experience in a PBX environment or working with busy telephones with multiple lines preferably in a medical setting.
