The Quality Lead will be responsible for collecting data, managing master data sets, developing reports, and physically troubleshooting related issues. The Quality Lead will use their technical expertise to ensure data accuracy and provide clear information to the businesses so they can make informed decisions. The Quality Lead will serve as a resource to both Howard and Southwire quality to support business initiatives.

Job Description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for diagnosing problems and providing resolutions with guidance of Southwire and Howard QA departments.

2. Responsible for maintaining, documenting, and communicating findings to both SW and Howard

3. Hosting weekly quality meetings with SW & Howard manufacturing plants

4. Assist with Southwire quality audit preparations

5. Responsible for performing inspections of all Southwire assembled products and Howard transformers.

a. Physical inspection of Howard product requires:

i. Cataloging Inspections.

ii. Use of inert gas to pressurize and identify quality defects

iii. Cleaning of suspect area and marking for further inspection

iv. If quality defects are found, product is placed on QC Hold

1. If pin hole leak/s is identified

a. Leak area is prepared & repaired with simple surface tach weld

b. If tach weld is successful, area is primed, and spray painted.

c. Repaired product is released back into inventory

ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY:

1. Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact.

2. Follow prescribed safety rules/procedures in an effort to prevent injury to self and others.

3. Seek the assistance and advice of safety representatives on matters concerning safe practices, policies and/or procedures and provide support for all safety committee activity.

4. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.

5. Report environmental and safety policy violations to supervision/management.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Normal warehouse working conditions, shift schedule may vary.

2. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.

3. Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.

4. Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50-75 pounds.

5. Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, other technical field or combination of education and related work experience.

2. Obtain and maintain Hazard and Waste Certification

3. Obtain and maintain welding certification

4. Ability and willingness to be trained to use pressurization and welding equipment (training to be conducted in facility).

5. Must have good presentation skills.

6. Must have strong interpersonal skills

7. Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

8. Must be familiar with warehouse operating systems.

9. Must have demonstrated skills in both Word and Excel.

10. Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.

11. Must be able to shift priorities easily.

12. Must be able to work well with others.

13. Must have good attendance record and cannot have an active final written warning disciplinary status.
