Siemens Energy Electrical Materials Engineer in Ft. Payne, Alabama

A Snapshot of Your Day

This position is responsible for Engineering Support for the manufacture and processing of Electrical Insulation Systems used in turbine generator applications. Additionally, this position will require direct and hands-on support of multiple manufacturing processes as well as providing onsite technical support of raw materials, electrical insulation systems, and the development and implementation of testing protocols for electrical insulation systems in the Siemens Energy Manufacturing facility located in Fort Payne, Alabama.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Responsibilities include hands-on support for manufacturing processes, material testing activities, onsite support of electrical insulation systems, development and analysis of electrical insulation system materials, data analysis, and communicating observed trends and insights.

  • Provide hands-on factory support of existing and new electrical insulation materials and associated manufacturing processes.

  • Communicate and implement Engineering requirements.

  • Prepare Engineering analysis of test data related to material and or process quality.

  • Technical interface with customers that use our electrical insulation systems.

  • Onsite Technical resource for back-office development team.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in either Electrical Engineering or Materials Engineering.

  • 1-3 years or more of experience working in an industrial environment is strongly preferred. Advanced degree (a master's or PhD) can be considered in lieu experience.

  • Those with more experience can be considered for higher level.

  • Strong Engineering skills with a curiosity about applications of materials used for electrical insulation systems.

  • Aptitude and interest in developing expertise in High Voltage Insulation Engineering Support in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Someone with curiosity about rotating electric machinery (electric generator or motors).

  • Able to work independently and be self-directed.

  • Willing to travel (approximately 20%).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong data analysis skills.

  • Open to work overtime and off-shift hours as needed to support emergent projects while working in either an office environment or in a factory environment.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators.
