Armed Services YMCA of The U S A Deputy Executive Director in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky

This position is a full-time benefits eligible position.  Hourly rate ($23.08 - 24.04) commensurate with experience.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for day-to-day management of programs, reporting and inspections while providing support, guidance and oversight to the myriad of programs focused on military and their families. This senior staff position will work closely with and provide direct support for ASYMCA operations through special events, fundraising, grant management, program development and execution, maintenance and implementation; contract tracking including required reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Personnel Management:

• Responsible for staff professional development, training, and tracking. Ensures all employees receive annual compliance training and other trainings required by Federal, State and local inspections

• Responsible for ensuring new hire orientation and training, contributing to the performance appraisal process, and if necessary, assisting in developing and implementing performance improvement plans

Program and Operational Management:

• Ensure branch operations and all programs are in compliance with inspections and renewal of certificates and requirements

• Supervise implementation of all branch programs and assess effectiveness of programs and instructors

• Develop and compile program data for surveys, and program and grant reporting

• Develops and executes new programs to meet current needs

• Provide reports to external partner agencies

• Responsible for facilities appearance and upkeep and arrange for repairs when necessary with DPW.

Community and Donor Relations:

• Drafts grant applications to support ASYMCA programs and operations

• Reports on completed grants and financial investments

• Assist in planning and execution of fundraising events

• Assist in identifying potential donors

• Represent ASYMCA at events, briefings and meetings

Volunteer Management:

• Encourages and organizes volunteerism amongst program participants, military command’s and civilian agencies

• Responsible for volunteer program development and training

Other:

• Maintains effective working relationships with National Headquarters Team and Branch staff

• Ensure adherence to ASYMCA organizational policies and procedures

• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in business, non profit management or similar field of education AND strong executive skills with at least 5 years’ experience in senior staff position OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Prior non-profit program and management experience highly preferred

• Deep understanding of the unique military lifestyle and mission of the ASYMCA required

• Team player; motivated to achieve personal and organizational goals

• Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines

• Strong interpersonal/human relations skills and able to deal with a wide range of relationships and situations

• Knowledge of the community and military resources

• Strong written and verbal skills; detail oriented with strong follow-up skills

• Able to occasionally work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite

• Must have valid driver’s license, a clean driving abstract and access to personal transportation

• Able to present a professional and positive demeanor with internal and external customers/clients and work cooperatively

• Able to maintain confidentiality of branch, employee and donor information

Post Hire Requirements:

• Proof of a TB clearance/test within the past 12 months. If test is positive, documentation of treatment plan is required

• First Aid and CPR training completed within 90 days of hire date, and annually thereafter

• Completion of required on-line training courses within 30 days of hire date

• Annual Flu Shot documentation

• Annual Medical certification from Primary Care Physician

• May occasionally be expected to work at special events outside normal working hours, including some weekends, and/or evenings

• Must successfully complete and obtain an ASYMCA and DOD background check

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise          program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs) perform the essential functions. 

Work Environment:

This job operates in a child care environment,but is based in an office.  The position will interact with children in early learning classrooms daily.
