This position is responsible for testing aggregates on a daily basis to ensure the products meet VA and DOT standards as well as act as an operator, perform general plant maintenance and act as a VA Certified Mine Foreman. The Production Coordinator (Aggregate Lab tech / Equipment Operator) role is based in Front Royal, VA reporting to our Plant Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

  • Perform quality control tests on aggregate products

  • Work in conjunction with production personnel to evaluate problems with quality

  • Maintain necessary documentation of the testing procedure and results

  • Prepare documentation for customers and contractors certifying the product quality

  • Function as a VA Certified Surface Mine Foreman backup which includes conducting pre-shift inspections to determine safety and work conditions are in order before the production personnel begin their shifts, and throughout the work day

  • Assist Plant Manager with other duties such as assessing stockpile inventory, daily office duties such as JDE, Cybersource, AOM, Stonemont, and other office clerical work, as needed

  • Become VA certified “Weighperson” by dispatching and scaling trucks as needed

  • Operate plant mobile equipment, including wheel loader, water truck, fuel truck, and excavator

  • Break oversize shot rock with a hydraulic hammer and sort into 3 sizes of rip rap utilizing a wheel loader and grizzleys

  • Manage and maintain pumps and quarry de-watering systems

  • Perform general maintenance and repair in plant

  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 1-2 years of experience in quality control

  • Minimum 5 years mining experience

  • Solid computer skills and MS Excel experience preferred

  • Demonstrated basic math skills

  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, contractors, agency personnel and plant personnel

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping

  • VDOT Aggregates Certification preferred. Must be willing and able to pass the certification, if not currently held

  • Virginia Certified Mine Foreman certification preferred. Must be willing and able to pass the certification, if not currently held

  • Work overtime as needed. During the construction season, the workweek may run 5 to 6 days / 45 to 65 hours per week

  • Work independently

  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds over 100 feet on a regular basis
