Job description: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures Security Officers will be armed and trained to a level equivalent to, or exceeding Law Enforcement standards. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.

  • Security Officers will have authority to remove or trespass persons found to disrupt, or interfere with patient care in addition to persons found to be a threat to the safety and security of our Staff, Patients, or Visitors.

  • Ensure proper follow up with staff who are victims of crimes committed on property owned orcontrolled by CommonSpirit Health.

  • Follow up will include collaboration with Law Enforcement and the Prosecutors Office to ensure staff are represented and informed.

  • Respond to all emergency codes and remain alert for any fire or safety concerns.

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe environment for patients who are under a Mental Health hold or an Emergency Commitment.

  • Complete patient transports to the Detox and Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) facilities as needed.

  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols to include off-site facilities.

  • Must maintain mandatory training requirements and maintain issued equipment to ensure proper function.

  • Required to complete detailed written reports such as daily activity, physical management, contraband, and incident.

  • Assist Hospital staff as needed to ensure patient care and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

Required for this position:

  • High school diploma/G.E.D, required. Associates Degree or equivalency in Criminal Justice or related fieldpreferred

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Current valid Colorado Driver's License

  • 3 years of experience in the capacity of certified Law Enforcement or Corrections, or Military experience related to security.

  • Must have completed a state or federal certified academy for Law Enforcement and must be currently employed in law enforcement.

  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully Complete Essentials of Aggression Management training course within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully complete training in Defensive Tactics and Arrest Control Techniques within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully complete training in proper use and implementation of restraints within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully complete a 40-hour firearms training and qualification course within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully complete Taser training and certification course required within 60 days of hire

  • Successfully Complete a Psychological examination within 60 days of hire

  • Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certified within 4 years

Schedule: This is a PRN "as needed" position.
