A Day in the Life

The Engineering Development Services team is looking for a Toolmaker III. This is a highly skilled technical position requiring experience in programming, setting up and running all types of machinery related to the machining industry. Must be able to read and interpret drawings and apply knowledge, experience, know-how, ingenuity and innovation to produce/manufacture required machined components. These components can be from simple to very complex.

Schedule: This role will work on-site Monday through Friday 1 st shift).

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Must be able to program and run various CNC vertical machining centers, manual grinders, lathes and secondary operation equipment. Candidate must be highly experienced in programming using CAD/CAM software. This position must be able to communicate well and deliver to required schedules and commitments.

  • Prepares metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing drawings, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications.

  • Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments to compute dimensions and determine tolerances.

  • Performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions, revising designs, and problem solves as needed.

  • Monitors and verifies quality and safety according to Medtronic's standards.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Ability to be able to adapt

  • Team integrity

  • Vertical CNC machining center experience including 3, 4, 5-axis

  • Tool and Die apprenticeship certification or equivalent formal training

  • Understands cutting tool geometry and applications

  • Reads and comprehends advanced drawings with GD&T

  • Use surface plate, sine plates, and height gage to setup and verify work

  • Ability to conceptualize and sketch tools, fixtures, and gages

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain positive, enthusiastic attitude

  • Eagerness to learn and expand responsibilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to build strong working relationships.

  • Have the willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
