TEKsystems Certified Back Office Medical Assistant in Fresno, California

Description:

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for greeting, scheduling and directing patients. Performs vital patient advocacy role as first

line of contact to patients, families, physicians and community. Serves as a liaison between the patients and the medical

support staff, ensuring needs are communicated and met with a high priority on service and quality care. Duties and

assignments may vary as determined by the Clinical Supervisor.

  1. Greets patients, visitors, and staff, in a prompt, courteous and professional

manner.

  1. Receives and manages incoming telephone calls in a courteous and

professional manner.

  1. Schedule appointments for assigned Physicians, as well as other UACC Physicians

as needed. Reschedule patients as needed.

  1. Mail New Patient information and confirm new patient appointment with patient.

  2. Answer patient questions as needed. Refer calls to clinical staff if

appropriate.

  1. Assist with patient check-in and check-out as needed.

  2. All messages are to be taken and then forwarded to the appropriate party in a timely manner.

  3. Contact patients by mail or phone to reschedule appointments when there are changes to

physician schedule. Ensure bump list is reviewed and addressed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Certification

High school degree or equivalent required; some college preferred

Skills/Experience

 Min. 1 year experience, preferably in medical environment

 Computer familiarity

 Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

 Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

 Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

 Ability to calmly and professionally deal with diverse population

 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 Highly organized

 Customer service oriented

 Knowledge of medical terminology a plus
