Meta is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Robotics team. This role is pivotal in tackling the most interesting mechanical design problems we face, designing and developing complex robotics that balance ergonomics, performance, reliability, and usability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for mentoring and guiding the engineering team from a technical standpoint, contributing to the overall technical capability of the team. This role will also support forward-looking pathfinding design problems in addition to complex mechanisms, subassemblies, assemblies, and advanced architectures.

Principal Mechanical Engineer: Robotics Product Hardware Engineering Responsibilities:
Design and Development: Tackle complex mechanical design problems, developing complex, novel robotics elements while balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability, and usability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Technical Mentorship: Mentor and guide the engineering team, enhancing the overall technical capabilities and fostering a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
Pathfinding and Innovation: Support forward-looking pathfinding design problems, develop advanced architectures, and innovate on complex mechanisms, subassemblies, and assemblies.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, user experience researchers, data scientists, and product growth analysts, to deliver high-quality experiences across markets, platforms, and product surfaces.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects, scale design resources accordingly, ensure deadlines are met, and set clear and measurable goals for team members.
Talent Development: Develop engineering talent, building a thriving environment where engineers grow in their careers, and foster a sense of inclusion and belonging.
Embrace constant learning, diving into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and supporting the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
13+ years in Mechanical Design Engineering, with a proven track record of contributing to the successful inception, ideation, development, and launch of consumer products.
Experience in Robotic and electro-mechanical subsystems such as motors, gearing systems and sensors.
Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
Experience with manufacturing processes and materials, and Design for Excellence (DfX).
Experience working collaboratively with Product, Engineering, Design, Content, and User Research teams.
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
Experience innovating and solving complex design problems.
Experience with organizational and analytical skills, and driving strategy and execution.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Robotics and consumer electronic product design.
Familiarity of traditional mass production manufacturing processes, skills and limitations of each: Injection molding, metal injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, elastomers compression molding, die casting, thixomolding, MLBs fabrication, SMT, FPCs fabrication, etc.
Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds.
Six Sigma Certification.
Demonstrated experience working in CM, JDM, and ODM/OEM development models.
Experience with simulation tools (FEA, CFD, etc.).
Public Compensation:
$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
