Job Summary: The Fireproofing/Scaffold Superintendent is the senior craft person responsible for crews building scaffolding and applying fireproofing. Will supervise and direct crews through their duties, per OSHA and company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and listen effectively with customer, coworkers, and leadership. Specifically, understanding the customer's needs and communicating with leadership to understand job scope and schedule.

  • Conduct crew meetings and toolbox meetings.

  • Maintain a safe work site, free of safety hazards by monitoring compliance with project safety program requirements

  • Oversee direct manpower at the job site, always being cognizant of cost and scheduling impacts to ensure the manpower is at a profitable level.

  • Perform administrative duties such as yard and job site inventory, safety meetings, fall plans, hazard analysis, payroll time sheets, equipment rental, return tickets, change orders, time and material tickets, bill of materials, and other site paperwork accurately and neatly.

  • Review and understand the pre-job plan to ensure that the job is built as bid and designed.

  • Make sure that work done out-of-scope is documented and properly accounted for so that the company may recoup as a change order.

  • Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.

  • Manages and communicates with foremen on their work of the foreman's crew, correcting work and work processes as needed.

  • Strong ability to estimate leg footage and man hours for any given project.

  • Ensure accurate loading, unloading and storage of assigned materials and equipment

  • Responsible for proper use and care for all GCI and Client facilities and equipment

  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) (including inspection and documentation) of the work

  • Estimate material and worker requirements to complete job

  • Assign work to employees

  • Ensure up-to-date, accurate time records, and ensures that man-hours, materials and quantities are properly reported

  • Analyze and plan installation and construction of equipment and structures.

  • Ensure workers are proficient in understanding GCI best practices

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to increase efficiency and safety

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent

  • Requires excellent oral skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.

  • Requires strong leadership abilities to inspire and coach employees to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks. This includes abilities that correspond to leadership, such as recruiting, selecting, training, motivating employees, and managing employee performance.

  • Requires the ability to present a clean professional image and to encourage subordinates to do the same

  • 5 years of craft experience in the commercial or industrial markets and at least 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

  • Apply basic mathematics and solve problems.

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, email platforms and other communication tools.

  • Work at heights without fear.

  • Must be able to follow directions

  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices

  • Understand scope-of-contract and change order process
