Job Summary: 

Oberg Industries is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and detail-focused Design Engineer to join our team which will work within Oberg’s Tool & Die Engineering division, located at our corporate headquarters in Freeport, Pennsylvania.   This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in product design and engineering to make a significant impact on our product development process. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing precision progressive tooling based on a customer’s part print and follow the project through to the development of the tool in our facility.  They will also apply knowledge of engineering principles to help provide solutions to the manufacturing process. This role requires a high level of creativity, leading edge design concepts, and attention to detail. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly detail component drawings with necessary dimensions and tolerances to manufacture.

  • Work with others on the design team to assist in the design of a tool.

  • Make design alterations to customer specifications.

  • Create drawings from reverse engineering a customer supplied part.

  • Provide technical support throughout the manufacturing and debug cycle of dies.

  • Work with lead designers or Project Engineers to determine any specifications that may be necessary to effectively design the die.

  • Make certain that customer specifications are documented into the die design.

  • Attend die discussion meetings for each assigned die design.

  • Attend and participate in die review meetings/technical discussions on assigned die designs.

  • Utilize NX and/or SolidWorks to create and modify designs.

     

Educational Qualifications and Specific Skills:

  • 5 -10 years of Engineering or Tool & Die design/development experience preferred. 

  • Previous experience using Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks preferred.

  • Previous experience using Forming Simulation software preferred.

  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

  • Must have working knowledge of manufacturing practices.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Must have working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows applications.

  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.

  • Must be able to understand written correspondence.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.

  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

     

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly have to travel through other departments.  The atmosphere is a climatic office setting, and the employee will spend the majority of his/her time sitting at a computer terminal.  This position requires on-site work.  Remote work options are not available.
