Job Summary:
The Production Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality fasteners. This role involves collaboration with various departments and local suppliers to improve manufacturing workflows, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design and Improvement: Develop and implement manufacturing processes to optimize production efficiency and quality. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Production Support: Provide technical support to the production team to resolve issues related to machinery, equipment, and processes. Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that production processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Implement quality control procedures and monitor production output.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance manufacturing performance, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Use Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Equipment Management: Specify, procure, and install new equipment and machinery. Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of existing equipment.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Prepare reports and present findings to management.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety within the production team.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a production engineer in the fastener industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the fastener industry, with a specific focus on the local supplier network for upstream and downstream processes, including heat treatment and plating services in the Fraser area.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.
Skills:
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and use data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
