JOB DESCRIPTION PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT PURPOSE & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Administers physical therapy treatment programs as per Plan of Treatment and under supervision of Physical Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum -- Associate of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. Licensed or eligible to be licensed in the State of Pennsylvania.

Directors, Controller, Physical Therapist

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Physical Therapy Receptionist/Aides (in setting up patient for modalities) DUTIES (Performed Under the Supervision of the Physical Therapist):

  1. Receives work assignments and data concerning preparation for and performance of procedure from Physical Therapist.

  2. Treats patients per the Plan of Treatment in accordance with available personnel and equipment.

  3. Operates equipment to provide patient treatments.

  4. Monitors patients during treatment and notifies the PT of any patient stress or malfuncting equipment.

  5. Instructs and demonstrates exercises to be performed at home and in the gym as per Plan of Treatment and documents this as per APT policy.

  6. Performs "hands on" treatments (including but not limited to myofascial release, neuromuscular reeducation, joint mobilizations, manual traction, etc.) as per Plan of Treatment and documents this as per APT policy.

  7. Provides records in accordance with APT policy for recording patients' charges for treatment under his/her supervision.

  8. Attends department meetings, assists and/or provides in continuing education for physical therapy staff.

  9. Adheres to infection control and isolation procedures and policies.

  10. Provides effective and timely communications with patients and other personnel.

  11. Displays attitude and behavior favorable to maximizing patients' rehabilitation potential and cooperation.

  12. Performs, without interpreting, selected measurement procedures such as ROM, gross strength of muscle groups, length and girth of body parts and vital signs.

  13. Modifies treatment procedures as indicated by patient response and within the limits specified in the Plan of Treatment and reports orally or in writing to the PT.

  14. Obtains, when necessary, the direction and supervision of the PT.
