BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Staff Accountant in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey

Job Description Summary

This is a hybrid role with 3 days working in the office. Reporting to the Consolidations Senior Manager in the Corporate Controller’s Group, this Staff Accountant will assist with the consolidation and preparation of worldwide consolidated financial statements for all reporting cycles including monthly actuals, annual budget, quarterly projections, and the three year strategic plan.

Responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Assist with consolidation and preparation of consolidated worldwide financial statements, which includes consolidation entries, account analyses and preparation of supporting schedules and financial calculations for all reporting cycles.

  • Receive widespread exposure to virtually all facets of the corporate reporting process.

  • Provide support for the company’s Annual Report (financial statements, footnotes, financial summaries, graphs, MD&A, etc.) and SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy).

  • Support and assist with business acquisition integration including providing support and system reporting requirements.

  • Provide assistance to regional and business finance colleagues as needed to ensure financial data is submitted accurately and timely.

  • Identify and implement operational improvements within the Corporate Controller’s Group.

  • Prepare Quarterly and Annual Government Surveys.

  • Perform special projects for management on an as needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in accounting or finance required.

  • CPA Certification, or CPA candidates who have passed parts of their certification and working towards completion.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in public accounting and/or private industry with exposure to general accounting required and consolidation experience highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess a reasonable level of accounting and analytical expertise. The ability to develop relationships with associates from other functions, businesses and regions will be essential in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

  • Candidate must have good interpersonal/ communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work both as a member of a team and independently to accomplish responsibilities. Strong multi-tasking abilities. Strong analytical skills for review and interpretation of data.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.

  • SAP and BPC experience desired.
