Richey and Son Inc. Metal Fabricator in Frankfort, Indiana

Job Title: Metal Fabricator ($22-$25/HR Based on Experience) Shift: 1st (7:30 am to 3:30PM) Monday through Friday About Richey Athletics: Richey Athletics is a local manufacturer of large installation Athletic Equipment. Founded in 1962, we serve the needs of private clubs, high schools, and colleges all over the United States. We manufacture everything on site at our facility in Frankfort, Indiana with materials made in the USA. What its Like to Work Here: We work first shift, 7:30 to 3:30, Monday through Friday. Our team members face the workday with a positive attitude and a lets-get-our-job-done mentality. Though this is a factory, the work varies and there are clear daily goals set. We know whose equipment were working on and when it needs to be done, leading to a strong sense of accomplishment with every days work. Benefits: PTO earned from the first hour of employment. Gold level healthcare (low deductible) available after 90 days. 6 paid holidays/year. Company-match retirement. A Richey Athletics Metal Fabricator is responsible for all steel fabrication. From loading plate steel on the plasma table to prepping the edges of raw steel for welding, our fabricator needs to have a good understanding of how steel must be handled to produce a quality product. The most skilled part of the job is some simple butt, gusset, and lap joint welding, but accounts for less than 20% of the days work. A Richey Athletics Metal Fabricator largely works alone in their own production cell separate and away from other employees. This person is responsible for keeping their area tidy, their inventory in order, and their managers informed on consumables, raw materials, and shop supplies so that production is never halted for lack of inputs. If you enjoy working alone and can hold your work to a high standard without a manager standing over your shoulder, this job may be for you. Qualifications to be a Richey Metal Fabricator: A cursory knowledge of operating an IronWorker (for punching and bending), Drill Press (for hole making), Plasma Table (for CNC Cutting), Grinder (for prepping metal), and MIG and Spray Arc welders (for joining steel parts) is helpful but training will be provided outside of the welders if need be. Near Perfect Attendance. As a small company, every employees daily contribution is extremely important. Physicality. This position requires handling heavy steel plates and parts (with some mechanical assistance when necessary). Metalworking hand tools are often heavy and vibrate as well. Precision. As Richey ships large equipment all over the country, mistakes made in our factory have large implications thousands of miles away. Attention to detail. Precision is a must with metal fabrication. Sharp edges must also be eliminated for the safety of our customers. Ability to follow a Standard Operating Procedure. Daily production goals, in order, must be met. Ability to Adapt to Change. Special one-offs, internal projects, and last minute additions to the schedule are regular occurrences throughout the year. You must be able to take changes in stride. If metal work is complete for the day or month, then the metal fabricator may be pulled to help in other areas of the factory to support company needs. Additional duties may include, but not limited to loading semis, stuffing foam into encasements, or running a horizontal band saw. Overtime is confined mainly to the months of March, April, and May. As these months are Track Season, they are the heart of our business and cannot be missed. Ready to apply? If this job sounds like a fit then write MetalFab at the top of your application. Good luck
