Our vision for Medication Delivery System (MDS) at BD

As a leading manufacturer and supplier of products that are used daily in healthcare, the Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) team provide a wide range of products for injection and infusion therapy, regional anaesthesia and closed medication management.

About the role

As Associate Director, Operational Excellence you will be creating a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) across the network through the BD Production System (BDPS).

You will be responsible for the application of LEAN production and CI principles, methodologies, and associated tools, to ensure balanced optimization of performance in the areas of quality, delivery, and cost, whilst improving safety.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead BD Production System capability development at 4-6 sites

  • Drive Cost to Win (CTW) initiatives, ensuring all plants in scope have 3-year funnel, delivering required impact annually in CI

  • Help shape and deploy BDPS roadmap, coordinate and /or lead specific Kaizen events and initiatives to enable performance improvement. Leverage Lean Academy as capability building mechanism, to ensure consistent approach and development excellence.

  • Conduct periodic review of KPIs and actions for all plants - facilitate and coach plant associates, on site coaching and conducts Zero Loss Workshops to ensure performance goals are achieved

  • Guide and coach associates to develop and grow BD Production System capability. Help site leadership teams create strategic vision, ensure alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs’) top down and bottom up.

  • Lead focused improvement efforts at key sites / to support critical initiatives (e.g., drive OEE, OLE) or other critical projects. Target multiple breakthrough events each year. Challenge existing paradigms, help accelerate impact of key initiatives.

  • Support global component centers-of-excellence (COEs) with developing standards and best practices to optimize methodologies for different manufacturing technologies. Ensure deploying sites establish and maintain appropriate component KPIs, maintain and promote visibility of global component impact. Support maturity assessment program across multiple business units

  • Develop and grow BD Production System impact through deployment of dynamically advanced aspects of component methodologies.

  • Own and drive the process to collaborate with the Business Units (Engineering/Manufacturing) and other functional departments to generate and maintain a multiyear portfolio of cost savings projects based on Zero Loss to meet plant objectives. Proactively leads multiple teams to the desired results including prioritizing projects and managing timeline completion

  • Develop and implement strategic plan for continuous improvement of the value streams for each of the plants primary product manufacturing processes and ensure that they are optimized from an efficiency and waste (OEE) perspective

  • Travelling expectation up to 40%

About you

We are looking for leader with minimum 10 years manufacturing and leadership experience in a plant with shown passion for safety, customer centricity and operational excellence.

You will also have:

  • Advanced set of skills in BD Production System and /or has knowledge in one or more areas of Operational Excellence / LEAN production

  • Problem solving skills, training and coaching others

  • Experience in implementing, and understanding of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems. Six sigma black belt certification preferred

  • Understanding of the interaction between operational excellence and customer service

  • Verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels of the organization

  • Experience of working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment

  • Minimum 3-years’ experience operating a production system. Certified or recognized as a Production System practitioner
